Installation of energy management system on Blagesti farm with energy storage capacity of 1.3MWh (2x300kW/645kWh)
The energy system of the Blăgești farm consists of two transformer stations, each rated at 400 KVA, a 260 kW cogeneration unit, diesel generator sets of 220 KVA and 185 KVA, and photovoltaic systems totaling 410 kW. The site includes various types of consumers: a fish farm, asphalt factory, greenhouses, processing plant, refrigeration systems, restaurant, and hotel complex — resulting in a wide and highly complex range of energy consumers.
Implemented solution: In response to the need for backup power for consumers, energy consumption reduction, and a stabilized voltage source, the decision was made to install two integrated energy conversion and storage systems, BRES 300-645, one for each transformer station. Consumers are supplied through these two storage systems and an EMS (Energy Management System) that monitors and manages the entire energy system.
What we achieved: Consumers now benefit from a stable power source, avoiding repeated outages from the national grid. The renewable energy produced by the existing photovoltaic systems, when it exceeds the instantaneous consumption, is stored in the BRES systems and later consumed via the Power Management System. This system operates based on data received through MODBUS communication from the storage systems and from the 7 newly installed energy measuring units. Depending on the SOC (State of Charge) of the BRES batteries, the cogeneration unit is automatically started, charges the batteries up to a preset level, and then stops. Additionally, in case of a power failure, the diesel generator is started automatically.
Objectives achieved: ensuring backup for consumers, significantly reducing energy consumption, minimizing negative impact on the national energy grid, and intelligent management of renewable energy sources.
